German Gigs
17 February 2006Ditte and I had a couple of very nice Fromseier Rose gigs in Göttingen and Berlin last weekend. The audiences were great and it was fun playing. A couple of Americans came for the Celtic music and accused us of sneaking in a lot of Danish tunes, “like a Trojan horse” they said. They still bought the CD though.
Our hosts treated us exceptionally well. They were helpful, friendly and served amazing breakfasts. Thanks to everyone (and especially to the parking lot attendant who was kind enough to rescue my luggage when I absent-mindedly wandered away from it).
On Sunday afternoon we took a short walk around the center of Berlin and came across Der Zeichner at an outdoor art fair. His prints are delightfully subversive. I bought a print of a cheerful-flying-pig-devil sort of creature, who is now begging for a tune to be written in its honor.
